Bean Bag Selection for the Fall

Fall is Here!

Unfortunately, the days are quickly getting shorter! This is a sad fact for those of you who like to spend hours on outdoor activities but, it's something that can be turned quickly into a positive. How? Simple. You can bring the outdoor activities inside! Well, of coarse this might be impossible for some activities such as hiking but, it would be fun to try out some doable ones like playing hide and seek!

While you are thinking about which activities that can be brought indoors this fall and shortly into the winter time, you can also consider how to appropriately "equip" your house with some lovely furniture to create that warm and fun atmosphere for your family. There are simple steps to creating the cheerful atmosphere in your home, especially if you have a big, playful family. Here are four tips for this fall.

  • Warmth
  • Colour
  • Texture
  • Comfort

Now, the first two (warmth & colour) go hand-in-hand really. You can create a warm environment by a smart selection of bright warm colours such as yellow, orange, and pink. The same way you can create a very dark and dull atmosphere with black, dark brown, or navy. Of course, you can have a combination of dark and bright colours to create a warm atmosphere with, again, a very smart selection of a variety of colours. Below is a beautiful example of a nice indoor decor for the fall to really, give you an idea of how colour coordination can work wonders to create a warm and cosy look for your home!

(Better Homes)
In the above picture is a gorgeous colour scheme or bright colours and undertones. Now, also notice that the room is not heavily furnished yet it looks stunning! The new way to really decorate your home beautifully is less furniture but more colour. Even if you just prefer to have more in your living room, the trick is to have complementary colours, just like the orange, khaki, brown, red, and greens that we see in this ravishing living-room. So, pick your colours wisely and you can also achieve similar results in your home! Doesn't it look like summertime still in this living room? That's what I want my living room to look all year round!

Next on the list to a beautiful in-home look for this fall is, texture and comfort. Now, the trick to textures really depends on the kind of feel you want to create. Spaces that have no texture somewhat appear bland but, they can also be sophisticated. Some people might try and avoid too much texture or, any texture at all, for the sake of having a room look sophisticated and not comical.
But, there is a way in which one can play around with textures and, still get that sophisticated look for your home. You can play around with textures from things that you decide to hang on your walls, all the way to what you choose to put on your floors. You can mix leather with fur, stone with feathers- absolutely anything! The trick is just combining the selected textures to create the desired look and feel to your living space. Below is a neat example of texture created simply with a plain yellow wall and a bunch of white sculptural items.

(HGTV)
Notice the colour selection in this amazing choice of decoration? The yellow and white create a warm, really cosy feel in this piece. This is something that might aid in turning your living space into a pleasantly warm area for this fall! So, if you take these few tips and put them to practice, you will be fully prepared for the fall.  Not just the fall, you can apply these simple tips for any season!

Now, back to bringing the outdoors inside. If you have a big family, or a playful family, you do want to appropriately accessorize your home to accommodate the season, as well as everyone in you family. One thing about a big family- too much stuff! So, you really want to eliminate the big things that crowd your living space and, replace them with smaller things. You want more places to sit that take up much less space than a three-sitter or two-sitter couch, for instance. So, how do you "downsize" on furniture to create more space AND colour coordination to welcome the fall? Too much to think about right? Not really.

Some simple fun, and not so expensive ways to do this is replacing your big seats with little seats but, at the same time providing more living space. This can be done through bean bags! The fun thing about bean bags is, they incorporate each and every tip mentioned above to improve the entire look of your living space. How? Bean bags can bring bright colours into your room, they can bring texture, thus, warmth and comfort! You can look at bean bags as 'adding pillows on your bed or cushions on your couch' because, it is just a simple. It a smart, and inexpensive way to decorate your living area. Here are some pictures with ideas of how to include bean bags to "spice" up your living area.

What a bean bag does really is to bring this idea of using a small object to light up the entire room! Although it might be a really tempting idea to just buy brand new furniture to completely change your entire house and, have it look just as exquisite as these above pictures do, it might be a bit extreme, and not to mention expensive. You can always just pick out a few tiny items to accentuate your living room, such as bean bags, and achieve the same results!

So, go out there (before it gets too cold out) and purchase these little items and get ready for the cold season! Also, be prepared to spend hours and hours indoors in your lovely, warm, comfortable and cosy living space! And don't forget to Pick a Bean Bag!!
